DIRECTV is getting closer to having MRV capabilities. In a surprise move, Dual Live Buffers (or DLB) is back on the table. Both MRV and DLB are now in development with availability anticipated for later this year.

WILL THAT MAKE IT SO THAT WE WILL BEABLE TO ONE SHOW IN 1 ROOM AND AOTHER SHOW IN A 2ND ROOM
Yep, record in one room, watch in another.
Is there any definitive info (heck, I’ll even take a rumor at this point) as to how MRV will work? Specifically, will this be a firmware upgrade to existing HR20/21/22 DVR’s or will there be additional hardware required?
I’m assuming at this point that transfer from device to device will be via the network connection, yes?
DIRECTV’s implementation of Multi-Room Viewing will using existing set top boxes (H21, H23, HR2x and R22). The only extra hardware you will need is a home network capable of 100 MB/s. You’ll need to connect each set top box to your home network and from there it’s a simple pressing the list button and viewing the information.

I think you will need swm only
You can use both your home network and the new DECA/SWM which is not yet available.
[...] mentioned earlier that DIRECTV was working on Multi-Room Viewing. Well, the cat is out of the bag now. [...]
So if I record a show in HD on the DVR in my living room but wish to view the show later via my non-HD DVR in the bedroom, will it play? I wouldn’t be able to view it in HD, I realize that, but will it revert to standard def?
I’ve created an updated posting here.
Yes, I think you have the right idea for Multi-Room Viewing. This is exactly what you can do with MRV.
