DIRECTV jumped the gun yesterday with a response on their twitter page suggesting that the new HD TiVo for DIRECTV would be available by the end of the year. Turns out TiVo announced in an SEC filing that the date would be sometime in 2010 … Oops.

DIRECTV is getting closer to having MRV capabilities. In a surprise move, Dual Live Buffers (or DLB) is back on the table. Both MRV and DLB are now in development with availability anticipated for later this year.

I’m often asked about the Firmware Monitor and what it does. Here, I’m going to try and explain a little bit of the basics in non-technical terms.
